About artvisits - some answers to your questions

What does artvists provide?

Ben Jones artvisits was established in 2000 offering bespoke group tours to London art galleries alongside special field trips to exhibitions abroad (click here for more on Ben Jones).

How are artvisits sessions organised?

Sessions with Ben Jones fall into four main categories:

  • Regular weekly/fortnightly bespoke group tours in termly blocks (currently full, but if you're interested in starting your own group you can join the waiting list by email) Otherwise why not join a special visit?
  • One-off, open-to-all scheduled visits to contemporary commercial gallery shows and major survey exhibitions in London.
  • Field trips to galleries, biennales and art fairs in the UK and abroad.
  • Interactive slide lectures on a topic of your choice presented in your home on an evening to suit you (contact Ben by email to check availability and cost)

What characterises artvisits tours?

The emphasis is on modern and contemporary art practice (1860 to the present day).

Groups are deliberately kept small and informal in order to encourage discussion and to ease movement through the galleries.

What form do artvisits tours take?

  • Sessions typically last between ninety minutes and two hours.
  • Open visits are usually limited to a maximum of twelve people.
  • Signing up is easy – you enter your name against the session of your choice and send a cheque to confirm your place.  You can even sign up for yourself and a friend, a partner or relative – just type in two separate names.
  • All visits have a maximum number – to secure your place, be sure to sign up early.
  • Prices are always per person and will vary depending on the number in the group and prevailing entry fees to galleries.
  • UK Field trips will include rail fare.
  • East End Galleries field trips will include coach hire, all other London visits meet at the venue.
  • Abroad - where field trips may span a weekend - accommodation and flights are left up to the individual group member to reserve at their own convenience (you may wish for example to arrive earlier or stay later than the period of the group visit).
